Ride famous climbs indoors at their real gradient

Grand Tour passes, Classics finales and the roads ultra riders meet, built from real map and elevation data. Your smart trainer sets the gradient and the surface, your power moves you up the road, and the ride ends at the top.

Grand Tour climbs

The passes the Giro, Tour and Vuelta are remembered for, from the Stelvio’s 48 hairpins to the walls of the Zoncolan and the Angliru. Long, sustained climbs that take 45 minutes to two hours.

Classics

The finales of the spring Classics: the Poggio and Cipressa, the Flemish bergs, the Ardennes walls, the white roads of Tuscany and the pavé of Paris–Roubaix. Short, sharp and often on rough surfaces.

Ultra roads

Roads ultra riders meet: the Grossglockner of Race Around Austria, Romania’s Transfăgărășan, the Kotor serpentine on Balkan routes and the Monts d’Arrée stretch of Paris–Brest–Paris.

How real roads work

Most indoor workouts hold a power target. Real roads work the other way round. After a 10-minute warm-up, MeepMeep sends the trainer the road’s gradient every few metres, plus the rolling resistance of pavé or gravel. Your speed comes from your power, your weight, the slope and the surface, so the ride ends when you reach the top, not when a timer runs out.

The time and power shown before you ride are estimates for your FTP and weight, re-worked whenever you change them. After the ride, elevation is recorded with everything else and included in the FIT export.

Make a climb fit your day

  • Gradient feel (Settings) softens what the trainer applies without changing your speed, handy for 20% walls on a trainer with a big flywheel.
  • Pace assist (E) holds a pacing target in ERG instead, so a climb can be a structured session. ↑/↓ move it.
  • Ride a long climb after a Zone 2 pre-load and it becomes durability work on real terrain.

Course rehearsals

Your event isn’t on the list? Bring its GPX.

Upload the course of your brevet or ultra race and MeepMeep builds an indoor rehearsal: its decisive climbs at their real length, in race order, with race pace between them.

Real roads questions

What is slope mode on a smart trainer?

In slope (simulation) mode the trainer sets a resistance that matches a gradient, instead of holding a power target as in ERG mode. You choose the gear and the effort, and your speed depends on your power and weight, just like on a real climb.

Which trainers work with MeepMeep real roads?

Any smart trainer that supports Bluetooth FTMS with simulation mode, which covers most current direct-drive and smart wheel-on trainers. MeepMeep runs in Chrome or Edge on desktop and Android, because it needs Web Bluetooth.

Are the gradients real?

Yes. Each profile is built from the OpenStreetMap route and surface data and EU-DEM elevation, then checked against the road’s published length and climbing. Pavé and gravel sectors add the extra rolling resistance of the surface.

Can I ride my own event’s course?

Yes, with a course rehearsal: upload the event’s GPX and MeepMeep builds a session of its decisive climbs, in race order, with race pace between. It can ride as power targets in ERG or as the real gradient in slope mode.

Pick a climb and ride it tonight.

Free in Chrome or Edge. Pair your trainer, choose a road, and the gradient does the rest.
