Choose TrainerRoad if…

  • You want plans that adapt automatically to how each workout went, and FTP estimates from your ride history.
  • You want native apps on iOS, or your trainer needs ANT+.
  • You want to send structured workouts to a Garmin, Wahoo or Hammerhead head unit for outdoor rides.

Choose MeepMeep if…

  • Your season is built around 200 to 1200 km brevets or multi-day ultras, and you want long rides, back-to-back days and durability work scheduled around that.
  • You want to measure durability directly: a durability test, fatigued power after set amounts of work, and Pw:HR decoupling on steady rides.
  • You want fueling and stand-up prompts during 4 to 6 hour indoor sessions, with crash-safe recording so a long ride is never lost.
  • You do not want a subscription or an account, and you want your training data to stay on your device.

Using both

If you already use TrainerRoad for the structure of your season, MeepMeep's .zwo workouts, durability guide and event plans are free to borrow from. Recorded rides export as FIT files for intervals.icu, Strava or Garmin Connect, so your training load stays in one place.

Questions

Is TrainerRoad good for ultra-distance cycling?

TrainerRoad is a strong structured training tool and works for many event types. Ultra riders often want more long rides and durability work than general plans include. MeepMeep builds those into its plans by default.

Is MeepMeep a free TrainerRoad alternative?

For riders with a Bluetooth FTMS trainer and Chrome or Edge, yes: ERG control, structured workouts, a plan generator and ride analysis are free with no account. It does not have adaptive training or iOS support.
